// Tracks of the Month.......

It's an old feature we've brought back for 2019 and beyond. Each month we'll post a suggestion on this page regarding a track we believe deserves the badge of 'Track of the Month' and some will likely be added to the playlist too. We may even bring back some old favourites, just to increase the choice of things to listen to on this page.

December 2021

Not so much a track of the month, more like a band of the year :).

These guys really impress us. Check our Manora - Dutch Symphonic metal.

Manora - Brave The Storm

Oh, and if you've never come across this YouTuber, check out Gamazda - she's totally awesome and seems to have covered almost every rock/metal band !!!

Gamazda - One (Metallica cover)

Be prepared to spend days watching different clips of hers !!!!!

March 2021

This month we go over to Finland for some Symphonic/Commercial sounding metal. This one is a bit commercial sounding - almost like a movie soundtrack. However, it's very well produced, has a good video and has a really catchy chorus.

We REALLY like it.

The band are called Arion and apparently, they were in the running for the Finnish Eurovision entry in 2013 or something.

Check it out - you'll be singing the chorus in your head for days :) :) :)

Arion - In the name of love

January 2021

What a way to start the new year !!! Check out this bad boy from Draconian !!!! Absolutely LOVE it !!!!

Draconian - Sleepwalkers

Sends shivers down my spine but makes me feel strangely happy when I hear this :) :)

November 2020

We've missed a few months, but for November we've got a real cracker (see what we did there - cracker, Christmas....) for you. The band hail from Italy and Czech and are called New Disorder. The track is called Deception 2. It's a really great slab of European Nu metal / metalcore or whatever you care to categorise it as. All we know is that it rocks :) :)

You can download/listen here

July 2020

Here is our TOTM for July 2020 and it's a real good one !!!!! The band are called Dark Sarah and the singer is ex-Amberian Dawn. It's one of those tracks that starts slowly and builds as it progresses, and we like those a lot :) :)

Check it out and enjoy :)

Dark Sarah - Illuminate

May 2020

No 'track of the month' as such, but maybe a 'band' of the month ??

Check out this lot from Italy !!!

Moonlight Haze - To the moon and back

Awesome symphonic power metal at its very best !!!!!

Enjoy !!!!!

February 2020

What a 'belter' of a track we have this month !! When I heard this track (on a far better radio station :)) I naturally assumed it was an old 90s classic that had simply passed me by. To my surprise, it's a brand new song. The band are from the early 00s and hail from Germany. We hadn't heard of them before but we certainly have now !! This is certainly a bit softer than the kind of rock/metal we usually indulge in, but there's just something about this track. It's very catchy and has a great lyric and one of those melodies that hooks you. I'd describe it as synth rock.

We REALLY like it, turned up loud in the car !!!! It's certainly a feel-good song !!

A Life Divided - Addicted

Enjoy !!!

January 2020

Back to 1997 for this live track from Rush. The whole 2112 album is one of the best ever made in our view - total musical indulgence.

Rush - 2112

December 2019

We saw Leaves's Eyes @ The Islington Academy, London in early December. Awesome gig and they previewed a new track, which is excellent. It's called Black Butterfly. The live version from the gig can be see on our YT channel here -

Leaves' Eyes - Back Butterfly

November 2019

10th November -

Motorhead - 1916

Triaxis - Lest we forget

Peter - Peace

October 2019

We almost missed it, but here is a great track from a band that has been around since 1999 called Breaking Benjamin. We have been aware of them for some time, but never paid too much attention (as usual !). Here is their new single called 'So Cold', which is actually a 'reboot' of the same song from 2006. This new version really rocks though !!!! Awesome track !

Breaking Benjamin - So Cold (Aurora Album version)

September 2019

September came and went and we are now in October, but there is still a track of the month for September. In fact, there are two.

This is the latest single from Life of Agony. The thing that caught our attention on this was the powerful drum sound but also the retro 90s grunge style guitars !!!! Really great track with all the usual ingredients we like in a track of the month.

Enjoy !

Life of Agony - Black Heart

Then there is this one from 2012. Not a band we ever paid much attention to but happened to hear/see this track in a Hard Rock Cafe recently and thought it sounded great when turned up loud :)

Halestorm - I miss the misery

27th August 2019 - Vetrar Draugurinn

This was one we really should have done earlier in 2019, but just so it's documented at some point, we'll squeeze it in before the end of August 2019 !!!

What can I say about this track, other than it's totally epic ! We've known about this band for some time, and the singer's other band, Autumn. Steve Martin is probably the number 1 fan for both bands :). He takes it to a new level though - almost stalkerish :).

Vetrar Draugurinn are from the Netherlands and feature the ex Stream of Passion guitar player Eric Hazebroek. Marjan Welman takes the role of lead vocals and her angelic, yet dark voice is really something to behold. They've recently released their first full album, called Hinterlands and every single track is an absolute blinder !!! Our favourites are Death Will Come For Us and this one, Twelfth Night. Apparently, according to Steve Martin, it used to be Eleventh Night, but nobody else seems to remember this :).

Check it out - absolutely awesome track, which starts very quietly and builds into something quite special indeed. We REALLY love this track !!!! This is Steve Martin's version from one of their live shows earlier in 2019. We cannot wait to seem them at FemMe in October 2019 !!!! Bring it on !!!!!

Vetrar Draugurinn - Twelfth Night

25th August 2019 - Beth Hart

From her new Album War in my Mind, here is the title track from Beth Hart's new album -

Beth Hart - War in my Mind

We've always had a 'thing' about tracks that start slowly and build up. We also like 'moody' piano sounds. Her voice, very much like Janis Joplin at times, delivers a powerful, yet sultry, and ultimately bluesy performance. The lyrics are pretty good too......

We really like it and it's certainly worthy of track of the month !!!!!

Enjoy !!!!
